H-E-B to break ground on new store in East Austin

AUSTIN, Texas — H-E-B, the Texas staple supermarket, is set to start construction on and open a store in East Austin soon.

According to project filings by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, H-E-B has filed a $40 million dollar project that is set to start in July of 2026. It would be a 115,285 square feet facility, and, according to a 2024 press release, an investment in the community.

“At H-E-B, we’re always looking for ways to invest in our stores and the community,” said Cathy Harm, H-E-B Senior Vice President, Central Texas Region. “This level of investment takes years of planning, and we are incredibly excited to continue providing the greater Austin area with stores that are new, expanded and remodeled. As we look for ways to serve even more Texans, we also remain committed to support those in need and uplift our communities where we operate and beyond.”…
