Madison County supervisors’ vote sparks outrage over road funding

MADISON, Miss. (WLBT) – A surprise vote at Monday’s Madison County Board of Supervisors meeting has sparked outrage and legal questions after three supervisors excluded two districts from 2026 road funding plans.

District 3 Supervisor Gerald Steen, District 4 Supervisor Karl Banks and District 5 Supervisor Paul Griffin placed an item on the agenda to finalize which roads would receive county funds in 2026. District 1 Supervisor Casey Brannon and District 2 Supervisor Trey Baxter said they were surprised to see the item appearing two months earlier than expected.
