(NEWS 15) — With temperatures expected to drop below freezing to start the week, some school districts in Acadiana have announced changes to the dress code for students that allow them to wear cold weather clothing.

Families are reminded that some cold-weather guidelines will remain in place. Kindergarten through 5th grade students may wear jackets or coats with hoods. Students in grades 6 through 12 may wear jackets or coats, but hoods are not permitted in accordance with district policy.
The St. Landry Parish School Board is also making adjustments to the student dress code on Tuesday to ensure warmth and comfort. Students are encouraged to wear school-appropriate jackets or sweatshirts, provided they are hoodless. Hoodies are allowed for students in grades pre-k through 4. Acceptable bottoms include jeans, joggers, or sweatpants, but pajamas are not permitted. For additional warmth, knit caps, earmuffs, and beanies are recommended but must be removed indoors. Regular school shoes remain mandatory. Layering clothing is highly encouraged to help students stay warm during this cold snap. Following these guidelines will help maintain a safe and comfortable environment for all students…
