Community support worker defrauds DC Medicaid program of $230,000+

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A 39-year-old woman pleaded guilty to defrauding the District’s Medicaid program from August 2021 through July 2023.

Jariatu Jalloh pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree fraud and two counts of first-degree theft related to the incident.

Jalloh was employed as a community support worker (CWS) by a District Mental Health Rehabilitation Service (MHRS). In her role, she was in charge of providing community support services by helping customers learn and improve basic life skills such as managing medication, increasing social skills and learning how to apply for housing and jobs.

Between August 2021 and continuing through July 2023, while employed by the District MHRS provider, she submitted encounter notes for community support services she did not provide and overbilled for services she allegedly provided to District Medicaid beneficiaries…
