Navy officer convicted of cyberstalking ex-wife in Maryland

SILVER SPRING, Md. (7News) — An active-duty Navy officer from Maryland is facing years in prison after he was convicted in federal court for stalking his ex-wife online and sending emails containing false allegations about her to get her evicted and fired from teaching.

Jason Michael Leidel, 45, of Silver Spring, was found guilty of federal cyberstalking, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland.

According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, Leidel, who is a Lieutenant Commander of the U.S. Navy, went on a prolonged harassment campaign targeting his ex-wife and her partner…
