Wichita police increase presence at Hanukkah events after Australia attack

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Wichita police are increasing their visible presence at Hanukkah events and celebrations following a weekend attack at a Hanukkah celebration in Australia that killed 15 people and injured dozens of others.

The shooting occurred during the first night of Hanukkah, affecting Jewish communities worldwide, including in Kansas.

“I woke up and I saw a bunch of messages on Instagram and all social medias that there was attack. And, I mean, on the first night of first day of Hanukkah, it hit different,” said a Wichita State University student who chose to remain anonymous…
