SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A Utah coin collector said more than 100 silver dollars are gone – some from the 1800s – after he packed them in a checked bag at Salt Lake International Airport for a series of Delta flights to the old Klondike Gold Rush town of Whitehorse, Yukon in Canada.
“It just eats at me,” said Darren King, who had planned to trade with the coins – maybe for other old currency, maybe for access to explore for gold on private property – once he got to the far reaches of Canada. “I don’t know at this point if I can explain how I truly feel.”
