Volunteer Killed at Christmas Parade Was Directing Traffic When He Was Struck by Car. Now the Driver Is Facing Charges

A former sheriff’s office employee who continued serving his community as a volunteer was fatally struck by a vehicle while directing traffic for a Christmas parade.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the Cumming Police Department announced Sunday, Dec. 14, that Robert Muth — a retired law enforcement professional and local volunteer — died from injuries sustained the night before.

Authorities said that on Saturday evening, Dec. 13, Muth was assisting with traffic control for the City of Cumming’s Christmas parade at the intersection of Castleberry Road and Buford Dam Road when a vehicle hit him. First responders rushed to help, and he was transported to a hospital…
