It shouldn’t be difficult to remember the name of Charleston’s latest sushi bar — it’s Sushi Bar, and it comes to 158 Church Street by way of Miami and Nashville, among other locations. Led by chef Anthony Martin, the 12-seat restaurant offers a 17-course omakase experience featuring dishes such as shima aji with Meyer lemon and unagi with melted bone marrow. It’s a quick-paced evening, with the chefs explaining each course before setting the nigiri in front of each customer. Sake and wine pairings are available.
Bellerose Hotel Bar shares a space with Sushi Bar and is run by the same group. It’s another intimate space (only nine tables) modeled after the great hotel bars of the world — think Bemelmans Bar in New York or the Hemingway Bar in Paris.
