11 Charleston Restaurant Openings to Know This Month

Having trouble keeping up with all the new openings around the Lowcountry? Here are the latest restaurants and bars premiering in Charleston this month.

It shouldn’t be difficult to remember the name of Charleston’s latest sushi bar — it’s Sushi Bar, and it comes to 158 Church Street by way of Miami and Nashville, among other locations. Led by chef Anthony Martin, the 12-seat restaurant offers a 17-course omakase experience featuring dishes such as shima aji with Meyer lemon and unagi with melted bone marrow. It’s a quick-paced evening, with the chefs explaining each course before setting the nigiri in front of each customer. Sake and wine pairings are available.

Bellerose Hotel Bar shares a space with Sushi Bar and is run by the same group. It’s another intimate space (only nine tables) modeled after the great hotel bars of the world — think Bemelmans Bar in New York or the Hemingway Bar in Paris. The menu leans steakhouse, with caviar service, martinis, Dover sole, and plenty of steaks, plus add-ons like foie gras, king crab, truffles, and bone marrow…
