Rochester City Council approves nearly 25% raise for themselves in 5-4 vote

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester City Council passed an unexpected amendment Tuesday evening, granting themselves a nearly 25% raise.

The council was initially voting on a 3% raise, which would have increased council members’ annual salaries to more than $41,000. However, Councilmember Michael Patterson proposed an amendment to align all members with the $50,000 salary of Board President Miguel Melendez.
