Man sentenced for hit-and-run that killed Santa Barbara father of 3

A Santa Barbara man was sentenced to state prison for a fatal hit-and-run that killed a local father of three in 2024, county prosecutors announced on Wednesday.

Brock Hoffman, of Santa Barbara, was sentenced to two years in state prison after pleading guilty to a felony count of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, according to the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office.

The charge stems from a June 29, 2024 collision on Cliff Drive, where Hoffman struck 39-year-old Juan Lopez late at night, killing him, then fled the scene without contacting police or attempting to render aid, prosecutors said.
