TOLEDO, Ohio — Frank Stiles, a former Toledo police detective who served over two decades with the department and helped solve a brutal killing spree in the ’70s and ’80s, has died. He was 87.
The Toledo-born Stiles died peacefully in his sleep on Dec. 13, according to his obituary. His celebration of life service will be private, but anyone who wishes to give is encouraged to make a memorial donation to the Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
Stiles joined the Toledo Police Department in April of 1965. Eventually, his name became legend, due in large part to his uncanny ability to connect with suspects and get them to admit to their crimes.
