NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – For nearly three weeks now, dozens of volunteers and donors have worked with local immigrant rights group Familias Unidas En Acción to organize, pack and deliver food bags to migrant families scared of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Operation Catahoula Crunch.
The operation started Dec. 3, touted as an effort to arrest criminal immigrants in Louisiana. On Tuesday (Dec. 16), Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino said 350 people have been arrested in the operation. But thus far, no official list of arrestees has been made public.
Immigration agents also are arresting people with ongoing immigration cases, work permits, pending asylum cases and in the process of getting their green card…
