Rockford unveils major 2026 plans for housing, arts and jobs

Rockford City Council is set to adopt several initiatives aimed at boosting economic development, housing and community services, according to a community announcement.

Key items include a development agreement with Urban Equity Properties for the adaptive reuse of the former Rockford Register Star building at 99 E. State St. The project could create a mixed-use development with about 80 residential units, a gourmet restaurant and commercial spaces.
