Man receives 56-year sentence for 2022 sword killing of former friend

SAN ANTONIO – A jury has sentenced a man to 56 years in prison for the brutal stabbing death of his former friend, Victor Ochoa, bringing an end to a case that had been delayed for years due to questions about the man’s mental competency.

Jason Aleman was found guilty of the August 2022 murder of Ochoa, 62.

According to prosecutors, Aleman called 911 and reported that he had killed someone. When officers arrived at his North Side home on Englewood Drive, Aleman led them inside and directed them to Ochoa’s body, which was found lying in a pool of blood.
