ROCK RAPIDS, IA (KCAU) — For the rest of the week, the Lyon County Courthouse is closed to the public.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said the courthouse in Rock Rapids will be closed for the “remainder of the week” starting on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
The department cites the closure is because of an “incident” that took place overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday. The sheriff’s office reported that, Wednesday morning, a county employee arrived at the courthouse and noticed there were writings on the walls, broken glass, thrown around items, and knocked down Christmas decorations – such as a tree.
