Knox County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy awake as hospitalization continues

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Knox County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Bernie Lyon is continuing to recover after KCSO said he was hospitalized and receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.

A sheriff’s office spokesperson said Tuesday that Lyon is awake and has been following simple commands. His medical team is continuing to closely monitor his progress and is limiting visitors at this time.

“On behalf of Sheriff Tom Spangler, the Lyon family, and our entire Knox County Sheriff’s Office blue family, we sincerely thank you for the prayers, food, cards, well wishes, and encouragement over the past six days. We are truly blessed by the outpouring of support from this community and from our sister agencies across the state and beyond,” wrote Kimberly Glenn with KCSO.
