LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — An agreement between the city of Lansing and a property owner will see at least 60 people displaced by Dec. 22.
A consent agreement signed by the city and attorneys for JAJ Properties requires the city to provide up to 6 weeks of hotel rooms for the residents of a controversial homeless encampment near Dietrich Park.
The city has until Dec. 22 to facilitate moving the residents to the Causeway Bay Hotel in south Lansing. Once that has occurred, the property owner will have 14 days to secure the property which may include putting up a fence and removing any remnants of the camp.
