Thieves steal Norton Commons woman’s car, leave her mother’s ashes behind

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A Norton Commons woman is warning neighbors about car thefts in the area after her vehicle was stolen the day after she moved into her new home.

Paula Wheatley moved her family to Norton Commons on Saturday, December 6, because she said the area felt safe for her children. The next morning, she discovered her car missing from in front of her house.

Ring camera video from Wheatley’s neighbor shows thieves opening her car. Officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) recovered the vehicle, but Wheatley said the thieves left her mother’s ashes, which were inside the car, as a display outside her front porch…
