Domestic violence experts urge caution after Lyft driver pistol-whipped trying to help

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A Lyft driver says she was pistol-whipped twice after trying to intervene in what she said was a domestic violence attack involving her passenger.

The woman, who asked not to be identified, was picking up a female rider from apartments on South University Boulevard around 3 a.m. earlier this month when she witnessed a heated argument between the woman and a man that was escalating quickly.
