Sacramento County authorities arrested 25 people on the first day of a retail theft operation led by the Sheriff’s Organized Retail Crime Task Force. The enforcement targeted multiple Target stores in unincorporated areas, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
The operation aims to protect shoppers and staff during the holiday rush, when retail crime often rises. The Sheriff’s Office received support from the Elk Grove Police Department, and the agencies plan to continue similar operations across the county for a week, targeting multiple stores.
The sting, which resulted in 25 arrests, included Aaren Jackson, 48; Leta Burnett, 59; Ashley Silva, 37; Kahleelah Bolden, 29; and Ryan Hamerton, 18, among others. Four of those arrested qualify for Proposition 36, which provides treatment instead of prison for certain non-violent drug offenders…
