10,000 people line up for Salvation Army toy drive at the Oncenter

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR) — Hundreds of volunteers and community partners walked into Syracuse’s Oncenter with the same mission of helping as many people as possible during the annual Christmas Bureau. But compared to years past, the need was exceptionally great for 2025.

“In October, our food pantry had over 50 families visit who had never, never food-serviced at our pantry before,” Sidney Germinio, the Executive Director of Community Services for Syracuse’s Salvation Army, said. “We see this daily, not just at this event. But we were extra prepared for this event, knowing that the need is greater.”

10,000 people were waiting in line this year, which was a number that certainly turned heads…
