Iowa City police seek assistance in unsolved homicide investigation

It has been almost a year since the Iowa City Police Department began investigating the homicide of Christine Blount. No arrests have been made, and police are asking for the public’s assistance as investigators continue to “pursue answers.”

On Dec. 30, 2024, Iowa City police officers responded to a report of shots fired at 2:38 a.m. in the 600 block of South Dodge Street, near Oak Grove Park. The shooting took place roughly half a mile from the Ped Mall in downtown Iowa City.

Officers found Blount at the scene. She was transported to a hospital, where she died. The Iowa City Police Department said the incident appeared to be isolated…
