CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Iowa’s News Now) — A former server and bartender at the Eastern Iowa Airport is suing a restaurant operator over unfair pay for tipped workers.
Tara Hill, of Linn County, filed the federal lawsuit on Dec. 12 against SSP America CID. The lawsuit alleges the restaurant operator broke federal and Iowa wage laws in how tipped employees were paid at its Cedar Rapids airport locations.
Hill says she worked at CID from August 2023 to September 2025 as a server, bartender and cook. According to the lawsuit, she was paid about $6.75 an hour and the company counted tips toward the rest of her pay.
