MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials announced that a settlement between Menards and several states, including Wisconsin, is worth over $4 million.

According to a release from Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP), the lawsuit co-led by Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa, with several other states also part of the settlement:
- Arizona
- Kansas
- Michigan
- Nebraska
- Ohio
- South Dakota
That lawsuit alleged that the home improvement store had deceitfully marketed a merchandise credit checking program, which the company called the Menards 11% Rebate Program, while engaging in price gouging, specifically during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The above states investigated several parts of the sales practices, with the following allegations specifically outlined in the release:
“Figuring out how much you’ll have to pay to buy something should be straightforward,” AG Kaul said via the release. “It shouldn’t be an adventure.”…
