NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Tenants at Shorter College Gardens Apartments say they are once again speaking out about what they describe as years of unsafe and unsanitary living conditions, as all utilities at the complex are scheduled to be shut off by December 29.
Residents and community activists gathered this Wednesday to call attention to conditions inside the privately owned apartment complex, including mold, pest infestations, water damage and structural issues. Several tenants said that they have repeatedly complained about problems over the years but felt ignored by management and out-of-state property owners.
“This is not something that just happened overnight,” one resident said. “People have been dealing with this for a long time.”
