ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The New Mexico National Guard deployment in Albuquerque will be coming to an end this week. An Albuquerque Police Department spokesperson confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the New Mexico National Guard is winding down its mission dubbed Operation Zia Shield.
Albuquerque city council debates how unused city funds should be spent
In April, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed an emergency order sending 70 National Guard members to assist Albuquerque police with crime. Guard members arrived in June, helping officers secure police scenes and working in the Real Time Crime Center.
