Learn to Drive, located in Albany on Lark Street, is not authorized to provide driving instruction or pre-licensing courses, despite advertising itself online as a New York State–certified driving school, the DMV announced Thursday, Dec. 18.
According to the DMV, the business continues to promote services through its website, nydrives.com, claiming it is certified to offer driving lessons and pre-licensing courses. Officials said any instruction or certificates issued by the company are invalid and will not be accepted by the DMV.
“This kind of illegal operation does more than dupe victims out of their money — it jeopardizes the safety of every person that the business provides driving instruction to and everyone else on the road around them,” DMV Commissioner and Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee Chair Mark Schroeder said…
