Today, the 48th Mayor of the City of Erie, Joe Schember, delivered one of his final speeches, reflecting on eight years of progress and public service. During his tenure, the administration focused on celebrating diversity, stabilizing city finances, revitalizing neighborhoods, strengthening public safety, and reducing crime.
“I ran for this office because I wanted to make a positive difference, and it has been the honor of my life to serve this city,” the mayor said. “The most rewarding part of this job has always been the people—meeting you, listening to you, and working every day to make life better in our community.”
