Teen and 20-Year-Old Charged After Fatal Double Shooting in Detroit’s West Side

A 17-year-old teen and a 20-year-old man face charges following a double shooting in Detroit’s west side, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old woman and injuries to a 22-year-old man. The incident occurred last Wednesday, shortly before 3 p.m., in the 15500 block of Sussex. Police responding to the scene discovered Cherish Hinson and an unnamed man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Hinson later succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital, The Detroit News reported.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that the shooting arose from an argument involving the two suspects and the 22-year-old male victim. The teen, identified as Lorenza Bernard Lancaster, has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder, assault with intent to murder, and two counts of felony firearm. Kavonta Maurice Plummer, on the other hand, faces charges of accessory after the fact, resisting and obstructing a police officer, and carrying a concealed weapon, as reported by ClickOnDetroit.
