Health departments in Alachua, Marion counties issue rabies alerts, officials urge to be cautious

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Health departments in Alachua and Marion counties have issued multiple rabies alerts in the past month, demonstrating the rampant run of the disease amongst wild animals in North Central Florida.

Last week, Marion County Health Department officials issued a new rabies alert after finding an infected raccoon, bringing the total of active alerts in the county to four.
