Until recently, West York Borough Police officers were under armed.
The department had just a few AR-style rifles – the current standard for law enforcement – and officers had to share weapons, moving them from car to car as shifts changed, Police Chief Matt Millsaps said. Other officers used weapons they had purchased, approved by the department, Millsaps said.
