Michael Anthony Boston Sr., the charismatic owner of the landmark venue Boston’s House of Jazz, has died, his family and business representatives confirmed. He was 68.
Boston passed away Dec. 14, 2025. The announcement was made via the venue’s official social media, sparking an outpouring of tributes from the jazz communities in Greensboro and nearby Danville, Virginia.
Known for his booming personality and his trademark greeting—“I’m Mike Boston and I own this liquor house”—Boston was a central figure in the Piedmont Triad’s cultural landscape. He founded the club to provide a premier stage for both local musicians and national touring acts, blending high-end entertainment with a neighborhood atmosphere.
