Couple charged after pitbull found beaten and hung in basement: police

PERRY COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — After a domestic violence situation forced a woman to rehome her dog, the couple she entrusted with the care of her pitbull allegedly beat the animal to death and hung it by its legs in their basement.

In November, Gwendolyn Paige was told by a family member that her dog, Ruby, had been found dead. Paige had spent months interviewing couples who could care for Ruby and her other dog, Hades. The dogs were rehomed to Perry County residents Erika and Trevor Kywokulski in January 2024.
