ELPD investigating MSU Chabad vandalism as hate crimes

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The East Lansing Police Department is investigating what they are calling “two possible hate crimes” after the MSU Chabad was vandalized twice in one week.

Police say shortly after midnight on Tuesday, video evidence shows an individual repeatedly throwing rocks at the MSU Chabad building in downtown East Lansing. The incident was initially reported as criminal malicious destruction of property.

Then, between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. Thursday, police say video also shows someone spray-painting “Nazi symbols” on the front door of the facility before throwing rocks at the windows and damaging the building.

Police say the fact that there were multiple incidents has led them to investigate them as possible hate crimes — and they are asking the public for help…
