PORT ST. LUCIE – Sgt. Erik LaVasseur, 55, continues to improve from surgery on both eyes, injured during a shooting on Dec. 1 at the Tradition community in Port St. Lucie, according to an update released on Dec. 11 by Port St. Lucie Police.
On Dec. 9, surgeons successfully removed additional remains from a bullet discovered during evaluation. The bullet shrapnel was lodged deeper than initially expected, but the procedure went well, according to the update.
