McEntee: State should review active shooter policies at universities

KINGSTON, R.I. — In the two days after a shooting at Brown University left two students dead and nine others wounded, the University of Rhode Island moved quickly to reassure a nervous campus as the alleged gunman remained at large in the state.

This came during Rhode Island’s first experience with multiple shootings on a higher education campus — a growing sight in recent years across the country — and it leaves some state officials considering whether more consistent training at all campuses may be needed.
