UC Berkeley fraternity faces lawsuit after balcony fall paralyzes student

Another UC Berkeley fraternity is facing a lawsuit alleging negligence at a party, court documents show.

The latest lawsuit, filed Monday by attorneys for undergraduate student Bandna Bhatti, states that she suffered serious injuries after falling off a steel external stairway at the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity house located near campus on Piedmont Ave.

The fall, which lawyers called “foreseeable and preventable,” happened at a party on “Cal Day,” on April 19. Attorneys said that while using the stairway, Bhatti fell from an intermediate landing where people were allowed to gather…
