Union demands ‘fair wages’ from Central Park Rehab & Nursing Center amid contract stall

SYRAUCUSE, N.Y. — More than 100 health care workers rallied outside of Central Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center on Thursday afternoon.

They are represented by 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East. Currently, the employees are in a contract negotiation for a new collective bargaining agreement. They said they’ve been working without a contract since Sept. 30.

Many held picket signs with messages demanding better conditions. Some read, “We care, be fair,” “SEIU fight for us,” “Put people before profits,” and “Honk for healthcare workers.”…
