WECT INVESTIGATES: A Leland woman’s battle against stage 4 cancer, Novant Health

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A Leland woman says doctors at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center missed cancer aggressively spreading through her body, then sent her home to die after finally diagnosing the disease.

Doctors are now giving her just months to live.

Brenda Booze has stage 4 cancer that doctors believe started in her lungs and spread to her brain and spine. She and her husband, Steve Conrad, said they repeatedly asked for a full-body PET scan or MRI over several months, but Novant Health doctors refused, believing the nodule on her lung was scarring, not cancer…
