Police: Boy, 16, caught with assault rifle, gun parts

ELKTON – A 16-year-old boy is facing an adult criminal charge after law enforcement officers caught him with an AR-15 rifle and “privately made pistol frames and a Glock slide & Barrel,” the Elkton Police Department reported on Wednesday.

Members of EPD’s Street Level Crimes Unit arrested the teen, whom investigators described as a “repeat offender,” at approximately 7 p.m. on Tuesday at an undisclosed location in Elkton, according to a notice posted on the agency’s Facebook page at approximately 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigators charged the teen as an adult with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, in addition to multiple related offenses, police said. On Wednesday, the teen remained in the Cecil County Detention Center on no bond, police added…
