VIDEO | Family leave ordinance for City of Wilmington employees signed

The City of Wilmington now has an expanded paid parental leave program designed to meet requirements of a new state law – while also making the city more attractive as a workplace.

Mayor John Carney signed Ord. 25-073 Thursday afternoon. Before the ordinance, the city offered four weeks of paid parental leave for employees who have worked for the city for at least a year. Now, it’s expanded to 12 weeks.

Other forms of paid leave are also available, including for a serious medical condition, care-taking for a family member facing medical challenges, or if a military deployment affects the family…
