Affidavit: Mom, 2 others arrested after leaving baby in car in 36-degree weather while barhopping on East 6th

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Three people were arrested and charged with child abandonment after they left an 11-month-old baby alone in a vehicle in 36-degree weather for several hours while they went out to various bars in downtown Austin, according to an arrest affidavit.

The affidavit identified the suspects as Gabrielle Aleman, 22, Jaslyn Tovar, 21, and Isaiah Calvo, 25. KXAN has reached out to Aleman’s attorney to ask for a statement on the charges. Attorney information was not available for Tovar or Calvo on Thursday.

According to the affidavit, Aleman, Tovar, and Calvo were out on East Sixth Street when police officers witnessed them violating pedestrian traffic laws. Aleman and Calvo kept walking, and one of the officers decided to detain and cite them for the violations…
