Jambaloo, which began as an effort by Spune Productions and the law firm Mullen & Mullen last year, will once again take over music venues across North Texas to offer free shows in February. But this time, organizers tell us, it will be even bigger. The inaugural effort offered an eclectic mix of acts across stages in Dallas, Denton, and Fort Worth, as well as a symposium on North Texas music, trends, and strategies for staying in the music business. The festival was designed to celebrate the live music scene in the region, and included acts like MJ Lenderman, Slow Joy, and Quaker City Night Hawks. The symposium included appearances by The D.O.C., Bobby Sessions, and Tre Nagella.
For year two, Jambaloo will take over 14 venues across North Texas from February 7 through 15. The festival has added late-night programming focused on DJ and vinyl culture, added more panels to the symposium, and crafted a closing event in collaboration with Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and the Granada. It also expanded its work with Amplified Minds, a nonprofit that provides mental health support to creatives. The full lineup will be announced next month, but promoters have teased a few of the earliest commitments, which include Tripping Daisy, Low Cut Connie, and Catie Adams…
