The film industry is a tough one to break into, even if you have connections, funding and a full crew. What makes it even harder is being an independent filmmaker from the South. Not only are there fewer opportunities to obtain those things, but often people assume that Southerners lack the sophistication of more established coastal art hubs like New York or Los Angeles.
But learning that hasn’t deterred local filmmakers Allison Bohl DeHart and Brennan Robideaux.
“Sometimes the greatest voices come from the ones that aren’t shouting or making the loudest noise, but the quiet resilient ones who are just out there every day,” says Robideaux.
