The big picture: After Wednesday’s ferocious gusts prompted Xcel Energy to cut power to tens of thousands across the Front Range, the utility is planning a second round of shutoffs Friday — potentially starting as early as 5am.
- Roughly 67,000 customers across Boulder, Clear Creek, Gilpin, Jefferson, Larimer and Weld counties could lose power, Xcel said in a statement. Denver, so far, is in the clear.
