DENVER (KDVR) — Emergency crews near Elk Creek have been very busy as high winds have caused fires, downed power lines and broken power poles over the last day.
The Elk Creek Fire Department said it has responded to dozens of calls between Wednesday and Thursday, responding to nearly 30 calls within less than four hours overnight, with multiple incidents at the same time.

One of those fires, the department said, was caused by a gas-powered generator that was on amid a power outage and destroyed a home.
Around 7:18 p.m., crews responded to a house fire in the 21000 block of Pleasant Park Road, where the fire was “fully involved.”…
