PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two people were arrested on Wednesday in connection with a shooting in Salem that left a man injured back in November, authorities said.
Salem residents Freedom Butler, 24, and Dakota Butler-Kota, 25, are both accused of attempted murder and other charges after the shooting that occurred on November 11.
On the day of the shooting, the Salem Police Department said they responded to multiple reports of shots fired near Broadway Street NE and Locust Street NE. Witnesses said they saw vehicles fleeing the area. Shortly after the shooting, a 39-year-old man was dropped off at Salem Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The police investigation resulted in two search warrants. On Wednesday, the Salem SWAT team executed both search warrants at two different homes. Freedom was arrested at their residence at Beechwood Court S around 3 pm, with several other people in the home being detained, including the arrest of a 37-year-old man who is now facing separate gun and drug charges.
