Lookout PM: LCC board disagrees on budget plan

Lane Community College board members disagreed on a plan by the college administration to cut about $8 million from the budget over three years. Some board members wanted more specifics before they OK’d the amount, even though administrators said they are just trying to set a bottom-line number and will come back to the board in March with specifics on cuts. Mike McInally was there.

Looking ahead to the next budget year starting in July, Lane County is also facing a $5 million deficit in discretionary spending, staff told the county Board of Commissioners. In the coming months, it will be up to the board to figure out how to close the gap. Ben Botkin explains…
