HONOLULU (KHON2) — Now that Aloha Stadium’s demolition is officially underway, several notable sites inside the stadium may look a little different than the local community may remember.
Other sites may look untouched — but that won’t be the case for long.
New Aloha Stadium one step closer to fruition following new agreements
Perhaps the most unrecognizable so far would be the locker rooms. What once hosted team huddles, celebrations, losses and pep talks currently houses scraps, bolts and the few lockers that actually remain.
There’s still room for the greats, however, with the lockers that once stored the personal and athletic belongings of Colt Brennan and Timmy Chang still standing. Those two lockers will be sent to state archives, stadium officials said.
Artwork within the stadium is still in tact for now, with the portraits that have seen countless fans come and go to games, concerts and more now observing construction crews walk the halls.
The iconic field and seats of the stadium are still recognizable as well, but demolition has already began in the area. With portions of the field still in tact and other sections demolished, the field represents the midway point of Aloha Stadium’s transition that it is currently undergoing.
For the seats that contained millions of fans throughout their lives, many remain in the stadium. But many others have been removed. Most removed seats have been auctioned off, with those who had sentimental memories of their season ticket seats purchasing them.

The contrast between sections that still have all of their seats and sections that are totally empty are another signifier of the transition of Aloha Stadium — one that is sad for many, but brightens the future for others.
Construction crews are bringing in essential pieces of the demolition as well as stadium officials look to set up barricades around the now-demolition site.
While the community may have already bid aloha to Aloha Stadium, the memories in and out of the stadium will continue to thrive on. Though the stadium will be demolished, the mana generated by the mighty centerpiece will continue to grow, finding a new place in the new stadium…
